The Mason's wines are produced from grapes harvested from small terraced vineyards on De Hoop farm on the upper slopes of Paarl Mountain. The winery gets its name from an association with stone masonry and the company JA Clift, founded in 1906 and the oldest monumental and granite contracting businesses in Southern Africa. Winemaker Derek Clift is a descendant of the Cornish founder. The wines he produces are blended and crafted from four shiraz clones, and are among the offerings that include olive oil too.
