Tanagra is a small wine farm near McGregor that produces wines certified as single vineyard and made with wild yeast fermentation. It has an equally small-scale distillery where a range of grappa, fruit eau de vie and fruit liquors are made. An old wild fig tree gave the farm its name, derived from the Khoisan expression for a well-shaded place. The giant tree is a canopy alongside the historic homestead and winery, providing welcome shade during the hot days of summer this region is known for.
