​Louisvale, one of the pioneers of Chardonnay in South Africa, began is wine journey in 1986 when it was acquired by Hans Froehling and Leon Stemmet. Today, it is still solely planted to the variety. Since 1994, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes have been sourced from the neighbouring vineyard. The 34ha property produces still and MCC sparkling wines at its location in the Devon Valley. At the heart of the farm is a manor house built in 1924 that sits beside a dramatic tasting centre designed by architect Christof Albertyn.
