Klein Karoo Wine Route
Karusa is the Khoi-San word for 'land with little water' and describes the semi-arid plateau of the Klein Karoo home to the wine and fruit farm. Acquired in 2004 by business consultant Johann Landman, Karusa is family operated and managed, and incorporates a craft beer brewery and tasting facility situated in a room that dates to the late 1800s. The farm specialises in Mediterranean cultivars suited to the climate – varieties including Shiraz, Viognier, Mourvedre, Grenache Noir as well as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinotage.
