The estate cultivates approximately 152ha of vineyards on a variety of sites. It is known for its wines as well as the original Cape Dutch homestead built in 1803. After restoration in 1990, the house was declared a National Monument. More recently, a state-of-the-art tasting room and restaurant has been added inside one of the historical wings of the cellar. On the wine side, Bellevue is famous as site of the first plantings of South Africa's Pinotage variety, made in the 1950s.
