Restaurant

Avontuur has produced wine grapes for over 140 years. Its cellar however was built in 1986, some six years after acquisition by the late Tony Taberer. Taberer also established the farm as a premier thoroughbred stud. On the wine side today, 17ha are set aside for the white varieties and 34ha for red – all benefitting from the cool influence of both its altitude against the Helderberg Mountain and the ocean nearby. A range of wines are produced as well as a 10YO pot-stilled brandy and Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wine, which are among the highlights alongside the tasting room and estate restaurant.

Award-winning Bistro style restaurant serving breakfast and lunch daily and dinner depending on the season. Light meals, starters, mains and dessert. Only Avontuur wines on the wine list. Popular for groups and functions. Terrace in summer and fireplace in winter.
